Tubkaak literally means ‘home for visitors’. Tubkaak beach is a hidden corner of the earth facing the stunning archipelago of 13 islands that rise dramatically from the calm Andaman Sea. Backed by the mighty Hang Nak Mountain, the unseen stretch of gorgeous beach and fertile landscape has all the right ingredients for a relaxing hideaway Krabi resort.
The Tubkaak Krabi Boutique Resort is located 45 Minutes from Krabi International Airport, 30 Minutes from Krabi Town and 20 Minutes from Ao Nang
Our check in was quick and seamless. The staff at The Tubkaak Krabi Boutique Resort is polite, accommodating and very helpful. As we walked in we were greeted with this very yummy thirst quencher, welcome drink. The Reception area is large and had the essence of Thailand. Within minute we were escorted to our pool side villas. We were four friends, and the staff very efficiently provided us with neighboring rooms . The pool was a stone’s throw away from our rooms.
We booked the Superior Room ( Approx AED 630/ or 135 pounds per night) as I walked into the room, I had this feeling of peace and quiet which a city girl craves for from time to time. Beautiful interiors, very cosy colours on the walls and curtains, well equipped room with private terrace, Nespresso coffee machine, kettle, coffee/tea/water, beach towels, beach bag, slippers. Two large wardrobes to fit your clothes in and an ironing board and a locker.
The view from the room was utterly gorgeous, it felt like an extension of the pool. Everything was just perfect!
One of the highlights of this room is the Outdoor Bathtub & Shower, – The luxury bathroom extends outdoors to include a refreshing shower and large sunken bathtub
Di Mare Trattoria
After we checked in , we visited ‘Di Mare Trattoria’. I couldn’t not take my eyes off the beautiful view from this restaurant. It is located on the beachfront, facing the stunning Krabi seascape and surrounded by trees and a charming pond, Di Mare Trattoria totally immerses you in nature. It is the perfect setting to enjoy classic Thai dishes created by experienced chefs, using only the fresh ingredients. Di Mare Trattoria is a wonderfully romantic dining experience. The stylish upper deck with soft furnishings and chic canvas cover is the perfect spot to enjoy happy hour cocktails with amazing sunset views.
The other restaurant is The Arundina: – This is an Italian restaurant in the resort. I dint try this at all since I love the Thai food.
There were times when I wanted to capture the beauty of this place in my mind and lock it somewhere so I could re visit it from time to time. They serve buffet breakfast with vast choice of English/Asian food. Their Ala Carte menu is also very appetizing and they have happy hours in the evenings.
L’escape Spa– One of the best spas I visited in Thailand. Very clean, the gorgeous interiors take your breath away. The staff is very pleasing, polite and great with their job
The Library– Since this property is very peaceful and quiet, for honeymooners and people who prefer the relaxed holiday, a library is a must.
L’Artisan Gift Shop– This is a beautiful gift shop, where you get plenty of items, clothes, souvenirs, bikinis, hats, sun glasses etc
The Gym– For the enthusiastic lot, yes you can burn those calories and eat guilt free. I didn’t step into it at all
Day tours You can book amazing day tours from the hotel reception to Railay Beach,Scuba Diving,Snorkeling, Sea kayak and so much more. The rates are reasonable for e.g Half day canoeing at Thanlane Bay: at 850 Baht net per person (half day trip)
We booked the hotel car to take us to some fantastic spots like emerald pool, tiger cave temple, Ao Nang market, Elephant Trekking, Night market. The hotel provides very luxurious rides for reasonable rates for eg. ( 600 Baht net per way (rate for 2 persons) to Aao Nag market) .
Shuttle Service : There is a shuttle bus to Aonang beach: Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday is 200 Baht net per person for round trip (18.30 – 21.00 hrs)
Wifi is available for free in the resort and the network is great.
(+) Tubkaak is a rustic resort surrounded by lots of greenery, stationed right at the clean and blue beaches of Tubkak, so if you love and appreciate pure and raw nature, this hotel is perfect for you. We stayed here for 3 nights and didn’t want to leave. The resort is huge, beautiful, serene and has this amazing calmness attached to it. The beach is beautiful and the hammocks and huge bean bags make it even better to do absolutely nothing but gaze at this beauty around you .The resort is a great combination of the well-designed lush grounds with an incredible beach with views of a of stunning islands off-shore, you can visit these island by renting a long tail boat from the hotel.
The resort is priced on the higher side compared to the other resorts in Krabi so calculate well before booking
(-) Minus points go to to the distance between the markets, airport, tourist spots and the resort. We had to take the hotel car ( which is not very expensive, e.g 600 Baht net per way (rate for 2 persons) to Aao Nag market) for all the trips . I wish the resort was located slightly closer to the lively area of Krabi.
Secondly, there is no 24 hours room service which was slightly annoying. We were on a girls trip and would be awake chatting and at times would be hungry for some mini bites but there was no food available to order after 11 pm
Conclusion– In spite of the slight inconvenience, I would highly recommend the The Tubkaak Krabi Boutique Resort to anyone who is looking for a truly relaxing, peaceful, calm & beautiful place to stay.
